Anyone over the age of 18 can be a Firefighter in the State of KY. If you are under 18 and are interested, we have an Explorer Post through the Boy Scouts of America for persons 13 - 17 years old. The benefit of being an Explorer is that when you become 18, some of your training hours roll over and are credited towards your Firefighter I certification. The BFD has had several persons become Firefighter I shortly after their 18th birthday.

The BFD is always accepting applications the become a Firefighter.

The BFD response area covers approx. 45 square miles and protects a population of around 9000 persons. Our district is composed of mostly rural-residential, and some light commercial properties.

The Tax Rate for the fire district is currently a .10  (Ten cents on every $100.00 of property valuation).  A property owner of a $100,00.00 property pays $100.00 in tax to the district annually.
